Board certified in general and thoracic surgery, Jonathan Kiev, MD, serves as the attending thoracic surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, where he focuses on thoracic oncology, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic surgery. In addition to his surgical responsibilities, Jonathan Kiev, MD, leads AOK Innovations, LLC, as president.

In his leadership role with AOK Innovations, Dr. Kiev has developed numerous patented medical devices, including the K-CAD chest access device and the IRAD device, the latter of which is a disposable device that allows radiology professionals to quickly and efficiently place drains in the abdomen or pelvis. The recently designed PCAD provides rapid drainage of pericardial effusions and is useful for emergency conditions such as pericardial tamponade.
Dr. Kiev holds a bachelor of arts from Syracuse University and a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Pennsylvania, followed by fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery at Loma Linda Medical Center in California, under Dr. Leonard Bailey. This was followed by fellowships in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and a fellowship in advanced thoracic surgery at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
